Usain Bolt vs. Asafa Powell or: Puma vs. Nike

Hm. Guess which brand´s marketing team screwed up once more promoting a Jamaican athlete at Olympic games… Need a hint? Tom Fordyce from the BBC can help you out.

Find out more about the campaigns at www.chasingbolt.com and www.nikelab.com. Get more information on the Jamaican sprinters on the New York Time´s website.

Vans Rasta Pack

Vans_RastaPack

Just when you think that the whole Rasta thing is a little played out, you stumble across yet another pack based on it and it just proofs again, that the rasta movement is timeless and will probably never leave. When it comes to music, we also don’t mind, but by now we have certainly seen enough sneakers in the rasta colors.  (via High Snobiety)

Nothing more to say. Besides something that has nothing to do with these ugly kicks (esp. the low top looks like a 16 year old pot head created them with Zazzle and Ked´s new custom shoe tool using his left while rolling a spliff with the right hand): Our friends from SoulForce just dropped a brandnew mix. Get the official high sound quality snippet on this blog tomorrow.

DanielHaaksman

Daniel Haaksman, the man behind “Man Recordings” and godfather of Baile Funk in Europe, sent us this picture of him representing our Bounty Killer shirt today.

We feel very honoured and strongly advise you to not only check out all his releases but also read his Man Recorder blog. In the past days, Daniel e.g. put up the mixtape of Sterotyp´s new project “Ku Bo”, some footage of DJ Beware visiting Rio and #4 of the Man Recordings “Inspiration” series.

Btw: In case you´re from Germany´s dirty south or you´re hanging around in Munich for some reason, you can check out Daniel kicking it live with MC Gringo in the Registratur Thursday night.

Rockers NYC: Fall/Winter ´08 Preview

RockersNYC_FW08

One of my all-time favourite brands, Rockers NYC, gives a preview to their fall/winter ´08 collection.  “Loud is Silent” e.g. includes a hooded motorcycle jacket, a reversible vest, cords, a poncho, a botton-down shirt and denims.

I´m not too sure how the poncho would suit me – but Sean – if you´re reading this: put me aside one a dem sick neon ghost jackets and a pair of tight close fit jeans. I know this stuff will sell off faster than Red Bull at Miles Ent. on a Thursday night.

Non-seen. Reggae Shirts and a Hobnox Feature on Jaybo

ReggaeShirts

With trade shows like B&B and Bright happening in Europe, of course, some reggae related tees pop up on the scene, too. The ones above are three I recently stumbled upon and like quite a bit. From left to right (ignore the super-ugly sneakers): one of the “Bad Brains collection” shirts from Vans (via Artschoolvets),  PAM´s “Riddims” tee (via Haven) and Gabrielle Smith´s nice and simple “R is for Rice and Peas” piece.

In addition, I came across a Hobnox feature on Jaybo a.k.a. Monk, the art director of Irie Daily (a heavily punk and reggae-inspired, established German streetwear brand which is really cool despite its name) and the man behind Style & The Family Tunes magazine. Watch it. This guy´s a genius.
