During the Berlinale film festival in Berlin, Germany, Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese announced a documentary about Jamaican superstar Bob Marley. It will be released on Marley´s 65th birthday which is February 6th, 2010.
Bob´s son Ziggy will be the executive producer for the project:
I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father’s legacy and are truly honored to have Mr. Scorsese guide the journey.
For Scorsese, the Marley documentary is his third big music-related production, after doing documentaries on The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.

No, this one ain´t about European soundbwoys Western Unioning their money to Jamaica in the hope of getting decent specials for their crew and ending up with some splice or fake shit or no dubplate at all.
This is is about “Dubplate Drama” – “the world´s first interactive television drama”. It´s an UK TV-series on Grime which started off with cellphone-only episodes but was put on TV due to its fast growing popularity after season one. The twist is that people can actually choose how they want the story to go on after each episode by voting on the Dubplate Drama Myspace site.
You wanna watch? Now? Jump over to the Hearing Test´s Dubplate Drama page on which all episodes available online are listed.
P.S. If there´s any Jamaican filmmakers reading this: I´m pretty sure that something similar could work pretty good with Reggae and Dancehall characters, too.

Musically Mad seems to be an interesting documentary about the British soundsystem culture. It´s directed by a Swedish guy named Karl Folke who also put the trailer on Myspace Video. According to him, the whole flic will be released in late 2007 or early 08. Watch out. (via House of Reggae)

Besides the right T and maybe the fitting cap, sneakers are without a doubt the most important part of fresh gear. Not only in HipHop- but in all kind of sub- and/or youth cultures. In Jamaica, too, there are some kicks that run the place. The Converse Chucks or the Nike Air Force 1 (just recently, Busy Signal mentioned them in his anthem “These Days”) just to name two.
If you want to learn about how all that hype on certain pairs of shoes evolved, follow this link which leads to a full-length version of “Just For Kicks“. A brilliant documentary on sneakers and sneaker freaks incl. great interview footage and stunning animated graphics.
