In his article »Jamaica nuff problems«, published today on the blog of FIRST Magazine, Sherman Escoffery sums up the political/societal situation in Jamaica and calls for change:
We need to start looking within ourselves and stop making excuses and admit that we have not seen any upward trajectory in Jamaica for a while now. We need to acknowledge that we need a long term plan.
We need new, intelligent and unselfish leadership, the PNP and JLP no longer care about us.
We need real moral leadership as the religious leaders have failed us.
We need a new police force as the current one is no better than the gunmen; and sometimes they are the gunmen that hunt us.
Jamaica needs to »Overcome« and so does every individual that feels caught in a system that doesn’t do him or her justice.

Ok, if it was only for the music, this Rihanna tune probably wouldn’t have made it on this list. I really like the video though which looks like a mash-up of Natalie Storm’s “Look Pon Mi”, any of M.I.A’s clips, Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor” and Schlachthofbronx’s “Ayoba”. Turbo, can you please put the vocals on some heavyweight club shit?
Talking of Tim Turbo. He’s not only grinding on some serious booking business for the Munich BTYCL party series (Douster in March!, Wildlife! in April! and L-Vis 1990 in May!), he also keeps on putting out the hot shit when it comes to production and remix work. His latest masterpiece is a painkiller trance dub remix of Schlachthofbronx’s “Ayoba” – BIG tune!

Man, I wish I was in Berlin on Thursday. Our friend Daniel Haaksman will be HEATing up things at club WMF for the third time and he pulled in yet another seen. comrade – that uber-talented Swiss kid that goes by the name Wildlife! – to serve the bass-soaked bangers.
