seen . presents King Kong Disco »Studio 1 Riddimwise«

posted on July 1st, 2010 by in SEEN Podcasts, Tropical Heat

Just when you thought our fine little podcast series named »Tropical Heat« went to sleep, the Notorious A.P.E. from Hamburg city hits back hard with a Studio 1 special edition:

King Kong Disko proudly presents »Studio 1 Riddimwise«. This mix features 120 minutes of music produced by Sir Coxsone Dodd selected by riddim, which means not less than 84 tunes on 23 Versions in a massive King Kong-juggelingstyle. We really dug deep in our record shelves this time to select a load of classics, rare singles, 12” Cuts, LP gems and some odd stuff from over 40 years of Studio 1 history. Let the good times roll, it’s Sir Coxsone at the controls.

Tropical Heat Podcast: »Deep in a Drum / The World is a Booty«

posted on March 25th, 2010 by in Audio, Tropical Heat

Servus! This week’s Tropical Heat podcast was put together by Mr. Matthias (Lionhearts) and TexToasteron (King Kong Disco):

In the first hour of Tropical Heat, Mathias Stoessner plays percussive rhythms which are more a tropical fantasy than actual tropical music. Exotical sounds soaked with aspiration meet Cha-Cha-Cha and Mambo classics, Latin Jazz and Calypso meet Tiki.

The 2nd hour comes with quite a bit more bpm and much more roughness and takes us back to the tropical-urban reality. King Kong Disco present a cross-section of booty beats that keep the youths around the globe dancing till the break of dawn. From West-Afric to Brazil, from the Caribbean to Middle America, at home or in the 1st world exile of your choice – tropical beats ain’t got nothing to do with romantic illusions but lead the way when it comes to electronic dance music even in the Northern hemisphere.
