German dancehall nice again!

After Ronny Trettmann’s »Schüttn’ Eimmer Wasser Drüber« (watch Frank Ribery and Daniel van Buyten demonstrate) hit teutonic dancefloors like a Tsunami back in September 2010, he’s back with another dance sensation: »Rangschier!« (»manoeuvre«) features Shotta Paul of Sentinel Sound fame and comes with a wicked half cartoon, half reality clip – our video of the week.

Big up the whole Heckert Empire family and especially Matthias »Gringo« Müller for the illustrations!

The Upsetter

Via Daniel Haaksman I learned that there’s a documentary about the the life and music of Lee »Scratch« Perry that I’ve slept on so far. The movie is called »The Upsetter« and it charts

70 years in the life of Lee »Scratch« Perry in his own words through an exclusive interview given to American filmmakers Ethan Higbee and Adam Bhala Lough in Switzerland in 2006. It is also a documentation of 30 years of Jamaican music and culture. The film is narrated by Academy Award winner Benico Del Toro.

Currently, the documentary is being screened in the US and Canada and on the official website one can pre-register to be notified when the DVD release hits the streets.
