Jamaica Observer website relaunched

The websites of the three major Jamaican newspapers – the Gleaner´s, the Star´s, and the Observer´s – have been looking the same basically since ever I´ve been checking them on a regular basis which must be since something like 2001.

Now, the Jamaica Observer relaunched its online presence and while the page still can´t live up to the online outlets of let´s say the New York Times or The Guardian, it is a major step in the right direction. A much cleaner start page, a search engine optimized URL structure, and RSS feeds for all departments reset the standards for the competition.

However, the quality of the pictures, the layout of the single articles, and the integration of videos still leave much room for improvement.
