Aloe Blacc (live) »I Need a Dollar« (Reggae version)

posted on October 7th, 2010 by in Munich Events, Video

Last night, the good people from Chromemusic, Der Kongress, and Carhartt Europe brought Stones Throw soul man Aloe Blacc and band to Munich.

Puerto Giesing was packed and despite the fact that »How to Make it in America« – the HBO series Blacc provides the theme song for (read the full story) – has not been officially aired in Germany yet, of course, the rendition of »I Need a Dollar« was the highlight of the show.

Especially, as Blacc didn’t stick to the original version but switched between the original beat and Reggae and Latin riddims (see video above – the one drop comes in at about 4:10). For my taste, he could have left out the Bob hook but as the crowd’s reaction shows that was only my humble opinion.

Nice one!
